I am located on picturesque Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, USA and specialize in various forms of fine art photography including, nature, landscapes, and portraits. Using a combination of ground based and aerial photography equipment I endeavor to capture the beauty of the Low Country of South Carolina and surrounding areas.
I have been involved with photography in one form or another for over 40 years. I have traveled all over the world and visited over 30 different countries during my career. My wife Jo and I moved permanently to the Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort area in 2015 and I established 3b photography as a local company to provide a range of photographic services with specialties centered on aerial photography and portraits of all types. In more recent times I have begun to shift a considerable amount of my effort to working on Fine Art Photography focusing on wildlife and landscapes. Whether it be in the studio environment or on location, I endeavor to create great images for all of my clients.
I am a member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America). I am also a licensed drone pilot (FAA part 107) and currently operate two drones for creating stunning aerial images for a variety of clients. I have also recently added aerial videography to my range of services.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products. I am also a member of the Professional Photographers of America.
The Low Country of South Carolina and the surrounding states offers as excellent environment of unique vistas that provide memorable photographs. Whether it be the beaches, the marshes, the live oak/pine forests, the wildlife, the sunsets, the sunrises, the parks or just the peaceful surroundings, I look to create images that will remind you of the great times and places that can be found in our area.
For my landscape photography I often use HDR images that are captured either with a camera on a tripod or using one of my drones in tripod mode. All of my wildlife/nature photography is done using Nikon camera equipment. Many people ask specifically what camera equipment I use for my wildlife images. My current set up is a Nikon D850 camera with a variety of lenses but most of my wildlife pictures are using a Nikkor 200-500mm zoom lens with a 1.4 teleconverter. I use a tripod with a gimbal head for many of my images in order to get them clear and sharp. I shoot all of my images in RAW format and post process in PhotoShop and other software packages.
I began my love for photography in high school when I took my first courses in photography (mostly black and white). I learned all the basics at the time and developed my own pictures in the darkroom back in days where film photography was the norm. For much of my professional career, I was in another business that gave me the opportunity to travel the world with a camera usually at my side. In 2015, I decided to early retire from my previous career and pursue my passion for photography.
